James 1:22-25

James 1:22-25 (New International Version)
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:22-25 (New Living Translation)

22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

James 1:22-25 (The Message)

22-24Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.
25But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.

I know I want to be a good reflection of Jesus to my family, my children, my husband, my friends, neighbors and people I come into contact with during my day.
It isn't easy some days to do this , I have trouble in some areas and some days are just tougher than others.
That's when I need to take some quiet time and ask for wisdom and be honest with God. I have to ask God that I need His help. To ask Him to help me to quit my mind , to not just listen ,but to hear and not forget but to be a woman of action.

We are studying James in Sunday school class. So I've been studying and listening to sermons on this book . I don't catch on to fast so I just keep trying until it finally clicks! I do know from 12 Step Recovery that I needed to change the person I was and be a person of good character. It seems to me that is what James is talking about.

God Bless, Peace & Love
